'The Drop' Earns Five Nominations at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards
MONTREAL - Today, Narcity Media Group (NMG) is thrilled to share some news: "The Drop," its first fully scripted series acquisition, has been nominated for five 2024 Canadian Screen Awards, including:
- Best Web Program or Series, Fiction
- Best Direction, Web Program or Series
- Best Lead Performance, Web Program or Series x2 (Aisha Evelyna & Dani Pagliarello)
- Best Supporting Performance, Web Program or Series (Aurora Browne)
Rewind to April 2023, when NMG first introduced "The Drop" to our audience. Created by the visionary duo Dani Pagliarello (The Handmaid’s Tale, Luckiest Girl Alive) and Aisha Evelyna (Slo Pitch, Rabbit Hole), and produced by Elizabeth Yake of True West Films, the series showcases a bold and unapologetic narrative.
Set in Toronto, "The Drop" follows Zara (Pagliarello) and Polly (Evelyna), two line-waiting pros diving into the city’s buzzing culture of luxury goods and exclusive releases. Their adventures through the trendy urban landscape offer a satirical take on society’s material obsessions and underground pop culture.
The all-Canadian cast, including Aurora Browne, Danté Prince, Samantha Brown, Andrew Robinson, Mishka Thébaud and Mark Little brought vibrant characters to life, enhancing the series' appeal. Special guest appearances by Jane Kaczmarek, Nicole Power, and others further solidified its status as a must-watch.
